Cannabis worth $7m seized in raids, say police
BLAIR ATHOL is a satellite suburb built 15 years ago on land that was once earmarked for industry. Its houses are spacious, its streets quiet.
Sleepy, empty and forgotten, the south-western location would be the perfect place for an organised crime syndicate toset up a sophisticated hydroponic cannabis operation - which is what police say they found there.
Since Monday police have raided four properties in Blair Athol - three in the same street - and say they have seized cannabis plants worth more than $7 million. A raid last week in nearby Bradbury was linked, police said.
